DUSHANBE, March 16, 2009, Asia-Plus — Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev received visiting delegation of the Federation Council of Russia (upper house of Russian parliament) on March 14.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker, said that inter-parliament cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation had been the focus of the meeting.

The sides, in particular, discussed the outcomes of the work of the second session of inter-parliament commission for cooperation between the Majlisi Milli and the Federation Council of Russia that was held in Dushanbe on March 13.

They also considered issues related to preparation and holding of the next inter-parliament forum “Tajikistan-Russia: Potential of Cooperation between Regions” that is expected to be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg in the second half of this year, the aide said.
