Because of low water levels at the Big Ferghana Canal and the Isfara River, local farming units are experiencing an acute shortage of irrigation water.

According to the Konibodom agriculture department, nearly 3,000 hectares have been allotted this year for growing early vegetable and fodder crops.  In the meantime, Konibodom farmers have planted early potatoes, maize, beets and lucerne only little more than 600 hectares to this date, the source said.
