DUSHANBE, March 19, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday March 18, the head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Sharif Said received visiting director of Russia’s closed joint-stock company (CJSC), Sustainable Development of Towns, Yuri Voznesensky, according to the CCI press service.

The sides discussed issues related to establishment of cooperation of the Russian company with Tajik enterprises, expansion of trade and economic cooperation as well as the possibility of investing in Tajikistan’s economy.

Voznesensky, in particular, noted that his company could invest in construction of small and medium-sized hydropower plants, mining and processing of precious and semi-precious stones, marble, bauxite and granite in the country, the press service said.

During the meting, it was also noted that funds could also be invested in enhancement of Tajikistan’s textile industry (cotton processing), construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, repairing railway equipment as well as development of tourism and relevant industries.
