DUSHANBE, March 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon held a traditional meeting with representatives of the intelligentsia in Dushanbe today on occasion of the Navrouz holiday.

The meeting that was held at the newly reconstructed building of the Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Sadriddin Ayni brought together members of government, local authorities, known Tajik researchers and cultural figures as well representatives of the intelligentsia from all regions of the country.

In an address to the intelligentsia to mark Navrouz, the president delivered a statement about the social and economic situation in the country, the role of intelligentsia in fostering education and enlightenment in society as well developing science and culture in Tajikistan, the press service said.
