DUSHANBE, April 7, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Saydullo Khairulloyev yesterday met with visiting delegation of the European Parliament led by Ms. Ona Yuknevicene (phonetically spelled), chairperson of the European Parliament group for relations with Central Asia also member of the commission for employment and social issues, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon said.

According to him, Khairulloyev briefed the guests on activity of Tajik parliament, its history.  Tajik speaker noted that Tajik MPs were widely using experience of their colleagues from the CIS and the European Union.

For her part, Ms. Yuknevicene expressed confidence that cooperation between parliaments of Tajikistan and European countries would expand.

MPs Shodi Shabdolov and Olimjon Salimzoda acquainted representatives of the European Parliament with the country’s laws on parliamentary elections and religion.
