DUSHANBE, May 2, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Senior representatives from the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism under the Government of Tajikistan are participating at the founding congress of the Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that has opened in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s Svedrlovsk region today.

The source at the youth committee says the conference that is held ahead of the SCO heads of state’s meeting scheduled for June this month, has brought together senior representatives from the national youth organizations of member nations of the SCO to discuss issues related to foundation of the youth wing of the Organization.

Foundation of the SCO Youth Committee will allow expanding cultural and educational cooperation between member nations of the Organization and will give a new impulse to further development of the SCO, the source said.
