DUSHANBE, May 14, 2009, Asia-Plus — A session of the Bureau and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC), presided over by  the Chairman-in-Office of the EAEC PA also Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, was held in St. Petersburg on May 13.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for public affairs, the meeting discussed a broad range of issues related to the activity of the EAEC parliamentary Assembly to promote further development of integration processes within the EAEC area and joint efforts to mitigate effects of the global financial crisis.

Participants pointed to the necessity of taking concerted measures to form a common legal space within the Community area.

Ubaidulloyev also took part at the sessions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly and the CIS Inter-Parliament Assembly that were held in St. Petersburg the same day.
