KHUJAND, May 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Murder has been committed in Sughd’s Istaravshan district.

According to the Istaravshan prosecutor’s office, a group of several unidentified persons in masks broke into one of houses in the village of Surkat in the Istaravshan district Friday night.

“The assailants inflicted several stab wounds on the master of the house and stabbed his wife when she tried to tear the mask off one of them,” said the source, “The master of the house died on the spot from wounds received and his wife is currently in the resuscitation department of the central district hospital in Istaravshan.”

The Istaravshan prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings to investigate into the incident.
