KHUJAND, July 3, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Work on introduction of Tajik-Iranian joint venture, limited liability company Nikoo-Khujand (textile factory), which is located in the eastern industrial part of Khujand, is nearing completion, the enterprise director Ismoil Qalandarov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

An official opening ceremony of Nikoo-Khujand was held on June 27, on occasion of Tajikistan’s national Unity Day.

“We are currently completing installation of equipment for production of cotton yarn and cloth,” said Qalandarov, “The enterprise that was established with participation of Iranian capital (Iran’s Nikoo Group) will be introduced into operation in the near future.  At first, some 200 people will work with enterprise.”

According to him, the enterprise will produce finished cotton goods.

Iran’s Nikoo Group was founded in 1982 after establishing its first factory, Golris.  Since then the company has expanded gradually and now consists of 7 production plants and three subsidiaries.  Today, as the largest textile enterprise in Iran the Group manufactures, different kinds of yarns, polypropylene staple fiber, nonwoven, spunlace and recycled chips, and exports these products to different markets especially Europe.
