DUSHANBE, July 8, Asia-Plus — Six unidentified persons have beaten three traffic police officers in Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).  On of the policemen has sustained serious injuries and been taken to the regional hospital.

The source at a MoI said that the incident took place yesterday evening.  “Three inspectors from the Khorog traffic police department that were on duty stopped Opel-Vectra for checking documents,” said the source, “In the meantime, six persons got out of the car and began beating the traffic police officers.   One of them sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, while two others got off with slight injuries.”

Local police have launched operation to identify and detain the criminals.  The stopped Opel-Vectra reportedly belongs to Khorog resident Bakhtiyor Shukurbekov.
