DUSHANBE, August 24, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev has ordered to lower prices of basic food at the city’s bazaars by 10-15 percent during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Niyozbek Qalandarov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, told Asia-Plus that a meeting to discuss current food prices at Dushanbe’s bazaars was held on August 22.

The mayor ordered at the meeting that prices of local basic food products should be lowered by 15 percent and prices of imported food products should be lowered by 10 percent.

Relevant bodies are to take adequate measures to ensure implementation of the order.  Besides, it was ordered to organize 114 outlets “Farmer’s Corner” at Dushanbe’s bazaars, the spokesman said.
