DUSHANBE, August 28, Asia-Plus  — Lieutenant-Colonel Imomguy Imomguyev, the chief of hospital of border troops deployed in the Sughd province, is suspected of having been involved in corruption, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

The source at a MoI said that Imomguyev had taken 400 somoni and DVD player for 250 somoni from Tursunzoda resident for illegal exemption of her nephew from military service.

It is to be noted that is already the second in northern Tajikistan case this month.  We will recall that the Sughd military prosecutor’s office in mid-August instituted criminal proceedings against Sulaymon Nozipov, the chief of the medical service at military unit 9829 of the Main Border Troops Directorate within the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) deployed in Khujand.

According to press service of the Sughd police directorate, Nozipov is accused of demanding 1,500 U.S. dollars from mother of one of servicemen for illegal exemption of her son from military service.  “The medical service chief was caught red-handed in his office while taking the bribe,” the source said.  Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Nozipov under the provisions of Article 247, Part 2 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – fraud.
