DUSHANBE, October 3, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The 21st session of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) that was held in Dushanbe on October 3 passed a resolution on moving the administrative center of the Shugnan district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (Gorno Badakhshan or GBAO) from the city of Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan to the village of Midenshor in GBAO’s Shugnan district.

Members of the upper house of the parliament also passed the resolution on renaming 35 settlements in the Rasht district (eastern Tajikistan).

The session also seconded amendments to the country’s laws on employee retirement income security and state symbols of Tajikistan.
