DUSHANBE, October 16, 2009, Asia-Plus  — In a report released at a press conference in Dushanbe, Director of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption Fattoh Saidov revealed on October 15 that according to findings by the anticorruption agency, corruption has cost Tajikistan at some 56 million somoni over the first nine months of this year.

Over the report period, the agency has conducted 892 inspections at state-run economic entities and other federally funded organizations.

Overall, 666 officials and managers have been implicated in wrongdoing, and disciplinary and administrative actions have been imposed upon them; 28 of them have been sacked.

Besides, inspections of activities of 69 private companies have revealed tax evasion cases for a total amount of more than 11.8 million somoni, Saidov added.
