DUSHANBE, October 21, 2009, Asia-Plus  — By October 21, Tajikistan has reached 72.3 percent of the autumn conscription target, Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

In the territorial cross section the percentage the target reached were: Gorno Badakhshan – 94.5 percent; Khatlon – 73 percent; districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) – 72.2 percent; Sughd – 71.1 percent; and Dushanbe – 56.4 percent.

The cities of Norak and Taboshar as well as the districts of Ishkashim, Murgab, Rushan, Roshtqala, Shugnan, Vanj, Zafarobod, Shahriston, Temourmalik, Baljuvon and Shuroobod have already fulfilled their conscription targets, the spokesman said.

The autumn conscription campaign is carried out from October through November, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
