DUSHANBE, November 26, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajik cellular operator, close joint-stock company (OJSC) MLT/TT Mobile (Mobile Lines of Tajikistan) is promoting a unique wireless communications technology – 3.5G USB modems – into the market of telecommunications service in Tajikistan.
According to MLT’s press service, the action is made within the framework of events related to the announcement of 2010 the Year of Science and Innovations in the CIS.
The 3.5G USB modems are a perfect option for Internet access on the go. This innovative creation features great speeds that can be used by computers without wires. These USB modems connect computer to a high-speed wireless connection.
“Taking this important aspect into account, MLT is continuing to implement programs aimed at raising quality of communications via wireless technology,” the MLT director general Gulmahmad Qayumov said.
MLT/TT Mobile is a joint venture between the Russian cellular operator MegaFon and Tajikistan’s national fixed-line operator, Tajik Telecom. MegaFon owns 75 percent of the shares and Tajik Telecom holds a 25 percent interest in MLT/TT-Mobile.
MegaFon, an open joint stock company, was founded in May 2002 with the renaming and reorganization of the Russian cellular operator North-West GSM.
MLT/TT Mobile was the first cellular operator in Tajikistan to offer its clients the 3G standard in 2005.
