The financial-industrial group “Altcom” (Donetsk, Ukraine) will begin construction of a road bridge, Atamurat-Kerkichi, across the Amu Darya river in Turkmenistan before April of this year. This was reported by the company”s deputy general director Mikhail Kovalev in an interview with the internet portal “Trans-Port.”

According to Kovalev, “a camp for the company”s builders is currently being erected on the bank of the Amu Darya river, the design of the bridge has been completed, and actual construction will begin any day.” “We will start for sure in the first quarter,” he said. At the same time, the deputy general director of the company noted that the commissioning of the bridge will not be delayed and is scheduled for October 2012 as planned.

Kovalev also said that the cost of the project is US $ 159 million. The total length of the road bridge with coastal fortifications will be 1415 meters, and the width – 11.5 meters.

It should be recalled that according to the decree of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of 17 September 2009, Turkmenavtoyollary State Concern (Turkmen roads) entered into a contract with “Altcom”, who won an international tender for the construction of the bridge.
