DUSHANBE, January 26, 2010, Asia-Plus  — An enlarged meeting of the Tajik Cabinet to review the results of the past year’s work is expected to take place in Dushanbe from January 29-30, according to presidential press service.

Heads of all ministries and organizations will make reports on the results of work carried out in 2009.

Local experts say that usually, the president introduces staff changes at such meetings and the next enlarged meeting of the Cabinet will not be exception to this tradition, especially as the parliamentary election will be held next month and a number of members of the government have been nominated to run for election to the parliament.

According to information received from the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER), three members of the Government – Minister of Labor and Social Protection Shukurjon Zuhurov, Minister of Land Reclamation and Water Resources Said Yoqubzod and Chairman of the State Committee for Statistics Mirgand Shabozov – have been nominated to run for election to the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).

Besides, current head of President’s Executive Office, Amirsho Miraliyev, tops a list candidates of ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) that will be elected to the Majlisi Namoyandagon through a proportional, party list system.

Under the country’s legislation, all these persons should be relieved of their posts.
