DUSHANBE, January 27, 2010, Asia-Plus — The Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption is investigating the case of former chief of Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, Hokimsho Tilloyev, the anticorruption agency director Fattoh Saidov remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on January 26.
Mr. Tilloyev, who gave a written undertaking not to leave Dushanbe, will remain at large during the investigation, he noted.
According to Saidov, details of Tilloyev’s case will made pubic on completion of inspection of financial-and-economic activity of Tajik Air for the period when it was headed by Hokimsho Tilloyev.
We will recall that Prosecutor-General Bobojon Bobokhonov told a news conference in Dushanbe on January 12 that the case Hokimsho Tilloyev has been remitted for further examination to the anticorruption agency. According to him, the case concerns large-scale embezzlement of state funds, and therefore, the anticorruption agency will continue the investigation.
Hokimsho Tilloyev, who was chief of Tajik Air in 2006-2008, was arrested in June 2009. He was detained on June 8, 2009, just a few days after the Prosecutor-General’s Office instituted criminal proceedings against him. Prosecutors noted that time that the charges brought against him are not linked to his tenure as head of Tajik Air but rather to his work with a private company he formed after leaving Tajik Air. According to them, Tilloyev couldn”t pay his company”s debts and his creditors made official complaints. Several days later, he was released after giving a written undertaking not to leave Dushanbe. However, later, charges of abuse of office, fraud and embezzlement of state funds were officially brought against him.
