DUSHANBE, January 29, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Person, suspected of having deliberately killed a family in the Bokhtar district, Khatlon province has been detained.

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), the 48-yer-old resident of the Bokhtar district, Rahmon Mahmatqulov, was detained on January 28 on suspicion of having killed local resident Nourali Mavlonov and his two 9-year-old and 5-year-old children following personal quarrel.

“Investigation has established that on the night of January 13, Mahmatqulov penetrated into the house of Mavlonov, poured gasoline over Mavlonov, his wife and two small sons and set fire to them,” the source at a MoI said.  “Nourali Mavlonov and his two sons died in the hospital, while his wife is now in serious health condition.”

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Mahmatqulov under the provisions of Article 104, Part 2 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – killing of two and more persons.
