KHUJAND, March 17, 2010, Asia-Plus — Some two kilograms of heroin have reportedly been confiscated from an entrepreneur from the city of Istaravshan, Sughd province.

According to the Sughd police directorate, an operation carried out by police in the city of Istaravshan on March 16 led to the arrest of local private entrepreneur Jumaboy Nosirov.  “Two packages containing a total of 1.968 kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him,” the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Nosirov under the provisions of Article 200 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking.
