KHUJAND, March 18, 2010, Asia-Plus — Organized by local office of the Russian Development Foundation, Institute for Eurasian Studies, a number of charitable actions have been carried out in Sughd province on occasion of the Navrouz holiday.
Bed linens, stationery and toys have been provided to a boarding school in the city of Chkalovsk and an orphanage in Khujand, the source at the Foundation office in Khujand said. According to him, similar charitable actions have been carried out in Dushanbe, Hissar and Khorog as well.
“Medicines and food products were provided to the Territorial Social Care Center and Center for Elderly People in Dushanbe,” said the source, “Besides, humanitarian aid was provided to the republican boarding school in Hissar.” In Gorno Badakhshan, the Foundation has provided humanitarian aid to the boarding school for orphans and children from vulnerable families in Khorog and regional orphanage in the Rushan district.
“The Foundation branch carries out charitable actions regularly,” said the source. “We have provided aid to Music Boarding School named after Malika Sobirova in Dushanbe and Orphanage Chorbogh in the Varzob district as well as carries out charitable activities for war veterans in Dushanbe, Sughd and Gorno Badakhshan.”
Established in May 2005, the Institute for Eurasian Studies Development Foundation opened its first representative office in Tajikistan. It was opened in Khujand, Sughd province in June 2009. Today, the Foundation affiliates operate in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan and Abkhazia as well.
