QURHGON TEPPA, March 25, 2010, Asia-Plus  — A joint session of members of the regional, city and district councils in Khatlon province to elect five members of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) took place in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province on March 25.

According to the Khatlon regional administration, Khatlon Governor Gaybullo Afzal, Panj District Chairman Mirzodavlat Sabourov, Kulob Mayor Homid Abdulloyev, Vose District Chairman Sulton Valiyev and the Norak HPP Director Fazliddin Shoiddinov were elected to represent Khatlon in parliament’s upper house.
