DUSHANBE, April 1, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan and Germany have discussed issues related to cooperation in the field of labor migration, according to the Tajik Interior Ministry Migration Service.

The source at the Migration Service said this issue was discussed on March 30 during two-day Tajik-German consultations that concluded here yesterday evening.  “The German delegation expressed readiness to provide support to Tajikistan through sending necessary specialists to Tajikistan and enlisting the services of appropriate specialists from Tajikistan at Germany’s labor market,” he said.

According to him, the German side also hailed Russian side’s wish to use its own potential to train labor migrants from Tajikistan (trilateral vocational training development project Russia-Tajikistan-Germany is meant).  “The German delegation noted that they will examine knowledge and professionalism of Tajik labor migrants and participate in training of specialists of Tajikistan’s labor market,” the source added, noting that the Government of Germany allocated 4 million euros to support that project.

The main objective of the project is in raising quality of basic vocational training and adult vocational qualifications with due regard to demands of Tajikistan’s economy and labor market.
