DUSHANBE, April 1, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Two-day Tajik-German consultations on financial and technical cooperation that concluded at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) in Dushanbe on March 31 resulted in signing of a final protocol.

The source at a MEDT said the document was inked by Ms. Larisa Kislyakova, chairperson of the MEDT department for international cooperation, and Mr. Gido Roiter (phonetically spelled), representative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The delegations, in particular, considered issues related to preparation of the intergovernmental negotiations on cooperation in 2010-2011 that are scheduled to take place in autumn this year.

The sides also discussed the progress of implementation of projects sponsored by the German Government; namely, rehabilitation of the TB hospital, Machiton, in Vahdat district, construction of new schools in Khatlon province, improvement of health care services for pregnant women and infants, as well as rehabilitation of municipal infrastructure, the source said.  They also considered issues related to the replacement of 220/500 switchyard at the Norak HPP and construction of small power plant in GBAO’s Murgab district, the source said.

The German side noted that it would provide assistance to Tajikistan with enhancement of its health, microfinance, energy, vocational training and innovative development sectors in the future as well.
