DUSHANBE, April 2, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The coordination council for discussion of Tajikistan’s public health strategy has considered and endorsed the strategy designed for the period until 2020.

According to the Ministry of Health (MoH), the coordination council for discussion of the country’s public health strategy met in Dushanbe on March 31.  The source at a MoH says the strategy will be submitted for consideration to the government by the end of this month.

The source at a MoH says the strategy provides for measures aimed at improving public health in the country through development of the accessible, efficient and technologically developed health care system.  According to him, implementation of the strategy is expected to begin next year.

Headed by the Minister of Health Nusratullo Salimov, the coordination council for discussion of Tajikistan’s public health strategy was set up on May 5, 2009.  The council members include MPs, representatives from president’s executive office, the ministries of finance, health, labor, education and justice, committee for family and women’s affairs, as well as partners for development and representatives from public associations.
