ISFARA, April 8, 2010, Asia-Plus  —  An incident took place in Vorukh, a Tajik exclave in Kyrgyzstan, on April 7.

The Isfara law enforcement authorities say eight Kyrgyz border guards crossed some three kilometers into the territory of Tajikistan in the Oftobruy area.  “There are households of Tajik nations in this area,” said the source, “The Kyrgyz border guards took two residents of Vorukh hostage; local authorities were indignant at Kyrgyz border guards’ actions and only Tajik border guards and police officers that came to the scene of the incident managed to prevent the conflict.”

The Kyrgyz border guards were detained and appropriate report on the incident was drawn up on and after that the detained Kyrgyz border guards were handed over to the Kyrgyz side.  The situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border is now calm.
