DUSHANBE, April 13, Asia-Plus — The flooding threat situation has ended well in the Darvoz district, Gorno Badakhshan, according to the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES).
“The Rogh River has returned to its previous bed and a flood threat no longer exists,” the source at a CES said, noting that a working group comprising representatives from the CES and the Main Geology Directorate will travel to the site within the next few days to study the possibility of recurrence of landslides there.
We will recall that an emergency situation emerged in the Darvoz district as a landslide caused by torrential rain dammed the Rogh River on April 7, creating a large lake. Some 12,000 cubic meters of slurry and boulders dammed the Rogh River, changing the course of the river.
