DUSHANBE, April 13, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Belgium was the focus of a meeting of Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi with Belgian Ambassador to Tajikistan Daniel Bertrand that took place here yesterday, according to the MFA information department.

The two also touched issues related to the border control and the situation in Afghanistan.

Zarifi, in particular, noted that implementation of a number of regional projects aimed at construction of highways, railroads, hydropower plants and power transmission lines could support reconstruction of Afghanistan’s economy.

The sides also discussed regional cooperation, cargo transit to Afghanistan and some other regional and international issues being of mutual interest.

Deputy Foreign Minister, Ms. Ozoda Rahmonova, also attended the meeting.
