DUSHANBE, May 17, 2010, Asia-Plus – The Dushanbe mayor’s office is continuing to provide assistance to the disaster hit-population in the city of Kulob.
As it had been reported earlier, the Dushanbe administration is sending humanitarian aid to Kulob once a week, on Saturdays.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office’s said 10 tons of wheat flour, 4 tons of potatoes, 4 tons of onions, two tons of carrots, two tons of cabbages, as well one ton of rice, one ton of sugar and one ton of vegetable oil for a total amount of 37,000 somoni were sent to Kulob last Saturday.
Besides, the Dushanbe mayor’s office and local entrepreneurs will also provide financial support for construction of 120 new houses for the disaster-hit people in Kulob, the spokesman said, noting that the estimate budget for construction of one house is 100,000 somoni.
The construction of the houses has began today and they are expected to be finished until September 1, 20010. The Dushanbe mayor’s office has also sent two public utility vehicles to Kulob.
