DUSHANBE, May 19, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) today endorsed amendments to the laws on public associations, execution and holidays.

Presenting the bill requiring amendments to the law on execution, the Deputy Minister of Justice, Abdumannon Kholiqov, noted that that changes and agenda proposed to the bill were aimed at strengthening powers and security of bailiffs.  “Under these amendments, bailiffs must have higher education and they will be considered public servants and security of them and their families will be provided by the country’s legislation,” the deputy minister said.

“These amendments give bailiffs the right to demand from organizations irrespective of forms of their property information about their activities,” Kholiqov noted.

Under the amendments made to the law “On Public Associations”, a part of articles of the country’s law “On Registration of Legal Entities” concerning registration of public associations, NGOs and their affiliates and representative offices in the provinces is transferred to the law “On Public Associations”.
