DUSHANBE. May 31. “Asia-Plus” — Head of one of branch offices of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT), a party which is quite popular among the Tajik people, reported suspected in trafficking of a teen girl.
In April this year head of IRPT office in Vose region Abdufattoh Abduholikov paid $500 to a local woman for her 16-year-old daughter, Tajik Ministry of Interior told the AP. The suspect was planning to traffic the girl to Russia. Investigators are now trying to clear up the purpose of the traffic attempt.
“Abduholikov was arrested with the girl’s documents and an air ticket to Dushanbe-Ekaterinburg flight. The girl’s mother was complaining about severe living conditions (she works as a cleaner and her family lives below poverty line) but never confessed that she had sold her daughter,” the source has said.
Law enforcement officer says the girl was planning to marry one of rich Muslims in Russia but the investigation also considers trafficking version.
A criminal case was launched against Abduholikov, the investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, Head of the IRPT Analytical Center Hikmatullo Saifullozoda says “the case was trumped-up with the purpose to discredit the party and deprive it trust of its followers. We were far ahead during the last parliamentary elections and they are trying to defame us using any possible way.”
