DUSHANBE, July 13, 2010, Asia-Plus – In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, Chairman of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, Maliksho Nematov, revealed on July 12 that 100 tourist companies in Tajikistan have had their licenses suspended for three months.

According to him, the licensing commission has temporarily revoked their operating license because of low level of services and non-compliance of their activities with their charters.

“More than 60 tourist organizations now operate in Tajikistan,” said Nematov, “Eight new tourist companies have been registered in the Committee since the beginning of this year.”

He also noted that more than 126,000 tourists from 60countries of the world have sited Tajikistan over the first six months of this year.

We will recall that the Committee’s licensing committee has functioned since 2006 and it has licensed 162 tourist companies over the past four years.
