DUSHANBE, July 29, 2010, Asia-Plus  — President Emomali Rahmon has sent condolence message to his Pakistani counterpart, President Asif Ali Zardari, over a deadly air crash that killed 152 people, according to presidential press service.

In his message, President Rahmon, on behalf of the Tajik government and the people and in his personal name, conveyed his profound condolences for the victims and sincere regards to the families of those killed in the air crash.

Pakistan is observing a day of national mourning following the country”s worst-ever air disaster.  On July 28, an Airbus A321 crashed as it was about to land in the capital Islamabad, killing all 152 people on board.  The domestic flight from the southern city of Karachi was operated by the private Pakistani airline Airblue, which has a good safety record.  Some international media report that according to eyewitnesses, the plane – with 146 passengers and six crew on board – was flying at an extremely low level before crashing into the Margalla hills north of the capital.  Thursday was declared a day of national mourning and ordered flags to fly at half-mast across the country.
