KHUJAND, July 31, 2010, Asia-Plus  — An arms cache has been discovered in Bobjonghafurov district, Sughd province.

The source at the Sughd police directorate said the 15-year-old Abdumalik Razzoqov found the cache on July 30 while taking a swim in the canal on the territory of rice fields belonging to the joint-stock company named after S. Urunkhojayev.  “The teenager found a white plastic sack at the bottom of the canal,” said the source, “One assault rifle Kalashnikov, one Makarov pistols and 130 bullets of different caliber were extracted from the sack.”

Local law enforcement authorities have instituted criminal proceedings on charges of illegal acquisition, possession and storage of weapons, an investigation is under way.
