DUSHANBE, July 31,2010, Asia-Plus  — On Friday July 30, outgoing Afghan Ambassador to Tajikistan Said Mohammad Khairkhah conferred here with President Emomali Rahmon at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan, according to presidential press service.

In the course of the talks, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

Pointing out the fruitful activity of Said Mohammad Khairkhah in Tajikistan, President Rahmon expressed confidence in further expansion of cooperation between the two friendly countries within numerous bilateral and regional development programs.

The sides, in particular, noted that construction of bridges, highways and railway links connecting Tajikistan and Afghanistan, as well as power transmission lines and power plants was of a region-wide significance.

Rahmon and Khairkhah also discussed issues related to the socioeconomic situation in Afghanistan, cooperation in patrolling border, and expansion of economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Said Mohammad Khairkhah was appointed Afghan Ambassador to Tajikistan in December 2005, presidential press service said.
