Tajik delegation to attend 3rd session of SCO education ministers in Novosibirsk

DUSHANBE, September 20, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik delegation, led by Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov, will attend the 3rd session of education ministers from member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that will take place in Novosibirsk, Russia from September 22 to September 24, according to the Ministry of Education (MoE).

The Tajik delegation will consist of 13 persons, including university chancellors and representatives from the MoE subdivisions, the source said.

On September 22, Rahmonov will participate at a meeting of the SCO permanent expert group for education cooperation.  The meeting is expected to discuss issues related to development of education system within the SCO area, use of latest technologies and implementation of joint programs for training of personnel for the education sector.

On sideline of the SCO education ministers’ session, the delegation will also attend an official opening of the International Youth Innovation Forum “Interra” and the University Summit.

The forum will take place on September 23-25 and more than 2,000 students, businessmen and expert community members are expected to attend the forum.

The University Summit is expected to gather education ministers from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan as well as representatives of 53 universities implementing the TACIS Program and representatives of European education.
