QURGHON TEPPA, October 30, Asia-Plus  — A court in Khatlon province has sentenced a drug peddler to 8½ years in prison.

The Sarband city court sentenced the Kulob resident Maroufjon Boboyev to 8 1.2 years in prison on October 28.  The sentenced followed his conviction on charges of drug trafficking.

The Khatlon transportation prosecutor’ office has investigated Boboyev’s case.

The Khatlon transportation prosecutor Saidqadam Zohirov told Asia-Plus that Maroufjon Boboyev was detained at the Qurghon Teppa railroad station on August 2 while he was trying to transport nearly one kilogram of heroin to Russia by the Qurghon Teppa-Moscow train.
