DUSHANBE, November 11, 2010, – Nearly 60-70 people, primarily women, gathered near the government palace in the center of Dushanbe today morning.

They tried to draw the leadership of Tajikistan government’s attention to detention of the Movarounnahr top manager and demanded to give their money back.

One old woman who gave her name as Mukarrama told Asia-Plus that she invested 105,000 U.S. dollars five years ago in construction of an apartment of four rooms in Dushanbe’s neighborhood # 82.  “The company pledged to build it in three years, but five years have passed,” said Mukarrama, “Recently the company promised to give me key to the apartment in a month and now we knew that the company director Jurabek Okhonov is detained.  Who will give me the apartment now?”

Movarounnahr is Tajikistan’s largest construction company.  It has been engaged in mortgage housing since 2005.  However, not all investors have received their apartments.
