DUSHANBE, March 1, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Food prices at Dushanbe’s bazaars were the focus of a meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office that took place today morning.

Speaking at the meeting, Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev noted that inspections carried out by an appropriate municipal commission at the city’s bazaars have yielded positive results, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office said.

The mayor promised that the municipal government would support measures taken by administrations of bazaars irrespective of forms of property to reduce food prices.

The municipal commission will continue inspecting the city’s bazaars for compliance with requirements to curb food price hike, the spokesman said.

Ubaidulloyev also ordered the municipal law enforcement agencies to control food prices at Dushanbe’s bazaars — the anticorruption agency’s office for Dushanbe will control prices at the Shohmansour bazaar; the Interior Ministry’s office for Dushanbe will control food prices at the Sakhovat bazaar; the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office for Dushanbe will control food prices at the Dehqon bazaar; and the Dushanbe prosecutor’s office will control food prices at the Qariyai Bolo bazaar.

Chairmen of Dushanbe’s districts are to control food prices at private markets functioning in the Dushanbe, Saidov added.
