DUSHANBE, March 2, 2011, Asia-Plus – | The Government of Tajikistan has set up a new Physical Culture and Sport Development Council, which is headed by the country’s Prime Minister Aqil Aqilov.

According to the Government of the Republic, the country’s Vice Prime Minister who is responsible for this sector and head of the Youth, Sport and Tourism Committee under the Government of the county Maliksho Negmatov appointed deputy chairmen of the newly formed structure.

The Council will also include heads of related ministries and departments of the country, heads of Sughd and Khatlon Districts, GBAO, Dushanbe, rector of the Institute of Physical Culture and Sport, chairmen of Judo Federation, Association of Sport Journalists, executive director of Talco company, chairman of the Tajik Railways company, chairmen of the board of directors of Amonatbank state saving bank, Orienbank and Agroinvestbank and such well-known Tajik sportsmen as Rasul Bokiev and Dilshod Nazarov.

According to the source, the goal of the new structure is to implement the government’s policy aimed to develop physical culture and sport as well as to coordinate related structures.

The formation of the new Council was initiated by the President of the country during his meeting with Tajik sportsmen on December 20, 2010 in Dushanbe.
