DUSHANBE, April 5, 2011, Asia-Plus — An operation carried out by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Gorno Badakhshan at the end of last week led to the arrest of Afghan drug pusher in Shugnan district.

Resident of Afghan Badakhshan Province was detained near the village of Yomj, the DCA press center reports.  A package containing narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing some 10 kilograms was confiscated from him.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher under the provisions of three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 335 (1) – illegal border crossing; Article 289 (4) – smuggling; and Article 200 (4) – drug trafficking.  An investigation is under way.
