DUSHANBE, April 25, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Police officers have reportedly seized 47 kilograms of hashish in an operation carried out in Panj district, Khatlon province.

According to the Interior Minister, the operation carried out by police officers in the Mehvar area of Khatlon’s Panj district led to the arrest of two local residents on April 24.   Two packages containing narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 47 kilograms were confiscated from them.

On the same day, Afghan national Guljon waladi Orzumuhammad, 26, was detained in GBAO’s Ishkashim district on suspicion of drug trafficking.  Nearly two kilograms of hashish were confiscated from him, the source said.

Since the beginning of this year, Tajik law enforcement authorities have reportedly seized 1,612 kilograms of narcotics, including 142 kilograms of heroin and 267 kilograms of raw opium.
