DUSHANBE, April 26, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Dushanbe Mayor yesterday held a working meeting to discuss activities of the city’s public transport and bazaars as well as the sanitary situation in the capital city, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office said.

The meeting participants included senior representatives from the municipal government and heads of commissions at the Dushanbe legislature (Majlis).

Measures to curb hike in food prices and provide local orphanages and boarding schools with food products were also among major topics of the meeting.

The meeting also discussed preparations for celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, the spokesman said.

Speaking at the meeting, the mayor urged the legislature’s commissions to intensify their work and offered chairpersons of Dushanbe’s districts to report on the mentioned issues every week.
