DUSHANBE, April 28, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Speaker of lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, Shukurjon Zuhurov, who is currently in the Rasht Valley (eastern Tajikistan), yesterday held meetings with residents of Rasht district.

The main purpose of the visit is for the parliament speaker to meet with residents of districts in eastern Tajikistan to explain them the main points of recent president’s address to the parliament.  Issues related to socioeconomic development of the Rasht Valley and tackling problems facing local residents are also among major topics of the meetings.

Today, Zuhurov is meeting with residents of Jirgatol district.  He is also scheduled to visit Tavildara and Nourobod districts.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon speaker has been n the Rahst Valley on a week-long meeting since Aril 25 and Tojikobod district was the first leg of his trip.

We will recall that MPs have been in the regions since April 23 to meet with their voters.  The meetings will last until May 2.
