DUSHANBE, June 21, 2011, Asia-Plus — One person was killed, three injured and six others reported missing on June 20 after a vehicle fell into the Panj River, Rushan district of Gorno Badakhshan.

According to the press center of the Committee for emergency Situations (CES), the accident took place Monday morning, 518th kilometer of the highway from Dushanbe to Khorog.

“As a result of a rock fall, Maqulsho Nasreddinov, 51, probably failed to control his Honda Galloper and it fell into the Panj River,” Nigora Soliyeva, a spokeswoman for CES, told Asia-Plus today.

According to her, Imumdod Ulfakov, 15, Madina Bulbulshoyeva, 6, and Rahimjon Mamadov, 54, were hospitalized to the Rushan central district hospital with various injuries.

“The body of Khadicha Yamoqova, 53, was found in the river yesterday,” said the spokeswoman, “Six other persons are still reported missing.  Among them are the driver, his daughter Sankviya Nasreddinova, 21, Nigina Dastambuyeva, 59, Madina Anoyatshoyeva, 49, Nemat Bulbulshoyev, 8, and Qimmatgul Shonazarbekova, 59.”

The search-and-rescue operation is under way.
