DUSHANBE, June 25, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has held talks with his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran just before the start of the International Conference on Global Fight against Terrorism that is kicking off in the Iranian capital today.

According to the Tajik presidential press service, a number of issues related to ways for fostering mutual ties and the current regional and international developments were discussed during the meeting.

The two reportedly also discussed bilateral cooperation between their countries in sectors like trade, energy, industry, transportation, science and culture.

A special attention was paid to implementation of agreements reached between the two countries, including completion of construction of the Sangtuda2 hydroelectric power plant and launch of joint industrial enterprises in Tajikistan.

Rahmon and Ahmadinejad also touched upon tripartite cooperation between Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan.  The sides expressed readiness to expand bilateral military and technical cooperation, the source said.
