DUSHANBE, July 16, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of more than 3.2 billion somoni (equivalent to some 688 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-June 2010 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 105.8 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 64.6 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the same six-month period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 24.3 percent and mining industry accounted for 11.1 percent.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced more than 1.3 billion somoni worth of goods in January-June this year, which is 19.4 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises have produced 242.8 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 3.2 percent more than in January-June 2010.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than 627 million somoni worth of goods over the same six-month period, which is 10.6 percent more than in January-March 2010.

Manufacturing of oil products has reportedly decreased over the report period.  Production of gasoline has fallen 28.2 percent, production of diesel fuel has fallen 27.4 percent and production of fuel oil has fallen 14.2 percent.
