DUSHANBE, July 18, 2011,  — 5 million young fishes have been delivered to Tajikistan for development of fish production, according to the state unitary enterprise, Mohii Tojikiston (Fish of Tajikistan).

In all, 20 million young fishes and four motor boats are expected tot be delivered to Tajikistan under the national fishing development program.

The Mohii Tojikiston director Ahamdjon Ghafourov says 8 large and 121 small fish farms operating in the country have produced a total of 1668.8 tons of fishes over the first six months of this year, which is 70 tons more than in the same period last year.

According to him, the situation of providing the population with fishes is improving from year to year.  “Tajikistan’s annual requirements in fishes are 14,000 tons of fishes, while the country has capacity to produce up to 80,000 tons of fishes per year,” Ghaforuov noted.

Tajikistan’s national fishing development program designed for 2009-2015 determines ways of development of fishing in the country.
