DUSHANBE, August 17, 2011, Asia-Plus – In the course of his working trip to GBAO Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon met today in Khorog with senior officials and activists of the Gorno Badakhshan.

According to the President’s press service, President Rahmon congratulated residents of the District with the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence and noted that more than 1bln 620mln Somoni have been allocated from the state budget for the development of GBAO.

According to the press service, President has also said that the Government of Tajikistan focuses on the development of GBAO’s potential. In the past 13 years 13 enterprises, 20 small production factories, two stone processing factories, five sewing factories and many other enterprises were launched in the district.

“Head of state ordered related republican structures to increase the number of enterprises in GBAO which use local raw materials,” the source reported, adding that President Rahmon also focused on the development of tourism, small energy sector and construction of roads in Badakhshan.
